FUND RAISING FOR BIRMINGHAM CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Our society recently supported a fund raising activity by a family from Alvechurch who were raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We offered our narrowboat ‘Cecilia’ as a prize. The family raised well over £5000. We were extremely happy to support them. We received this ‘Thank You’ from the family and some photos you might like to see.

Family Fun Day and Hog Roast in memory of Emilia Edwards – Sat 1st July 2017

I would like to thank you for the generous donation of the use of Cecilia from the Worcester Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society to our recent fundraising event. Once again, the day was a great success with in excess of 300 people attending. We held a children’s tombola, a raffle, a wheelbarrow of booze raffle plus a silent auction on the day. All of which would not have been possible without your generosity.
As a family, we were delighted to recently go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital to present a cheque from the day for an outstanding £5463.25 which I know will help make a difference to the lives of many children and their families. Also, on Sat 23rd September Neil and I have been invited the visit the new Magnolia House at the hospital which is a tranquil space for families dealing with difficult and upsetting news which I am sure will be a very moving visit but at the same time great to see how some of the money we have raised over the years has been used.
The team at the hospital have also asked that I pass on their thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed. The total we have now raised since we began fundraising in Emilia’s memory is over £25,000 which we are immensely grateful and proud of and once again thank you for your support.

Best wishes
Neil, Fiona, Ewan, Georgina and Eilidh Edwards
